Madeline & Leonard Fritz
Madeline is the third child of Mary Hope (Anuta) Milidonis and Michael M. Milidonis. She and Leonard Fritz were married and had two sons, Jared and Justin. Both Madeline and Leonard became involved in the Boy Scoutsof America with their sons.
Madeline was active as an Assistant Den Leader for three years until her sons bridged to Boy Scouts. For the seven years the boys were in Boy scouts, Madeline volunteered as a Merit Badge Counselor.
Leonard first volunteered as a Den Leader while his sons were in Cub Scouts. In Boy Scouts he served in a variety of positions for the Troop including Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chair and Unit Commissioner. He also was a Merit Badge Counselor, an Eagle Scout Project Advisor and Venture Crew Advisor.
Leonard also played a big role with developing this local troop. He helped get Troop 1 in Scenic Trails Council reactivated in 1986. He continued to help the troop receive the Quality Unit Award for the next 13 years. Leonard was the Presbyterian Church Representative for Venture Crew 13, starting this Crew in 2000.
Leonard received recognition for all his work in 1989 when he was presented with the Den Leader of the Year Award and again in 1993 when he was presented with the Troop Committee Chairperson of the Year Award. Amongst all his training and experience he also attended Woodbadge Training in 1995. Leonard was a member of the National Association of Presbyterian Scouters from 1997-2002 earning the Presbyterian Scouters Award and the Masonic Scouter Award in 1997. In 1999 Leonard was awarded the Silver Beaver Award.
Scouting to Leonard and Madeline was new when their two boys expressed interest in joining. Not knowing what they were getting involved in at the time, they are now thankful that they did. They noticed that they were growing not only as a family, but personally as well. The connections with other parents and the community that were built are as strong now as they were when their boys were involved. They noticed with understanding the Scout Oath and Law that Scouting was instilling discipline, respect and strong ethics into their children and others who were involved with Scouting.
After Jared and Justin both received their Eagle Rank, went on to college and to start families and professions of their own, there still was a desire to help the local Troops and Organizations. Leonard continued on to volunteer as a Venture Crew. He notes that today, the connections that were made when his boys were younger are still in his life.
